Missed chance to bid on Obama’s senate seat
How nice that there are people in the world with a sense of humor while the rest of us are busy dealing with breaking news. While we were running around like crazy covering the arrest of the sitting governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, someone found time to post an eBay auction for Barack Obama’s vacant seat in the U.S. Senate.
(Among the charges from the feds: That Blagojevich tried to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder.)
Here’s what the eBay page looked like at approximately 2 p.m. (all times are approximate). The price is $127:
About five minutes later, Steve Yelvington tweeted to me that it was up to $1.1 million. I captured this screenshot five minutes later (now priced at $2.5 million).
Soon after, another tweet put it at $10 million, but by the time I got to the page, it was up to $99.99 million:
And when I checked again at about 3:15 p.m., of course, eBay had yanked it:
